A transplant surgeon affiliated with the University of Utah stated they pay a mind-boggling $120,000 to $150,000 in air transport charges per case. But here’s the rub: he indicated that basically 100% of these cases involved a donor and recipient within a driving radius of 250 miles – in other words, they are paying six-figure transport charges to fly in TransMedics jets when a van would suffice with perhaps a $3,000 cost.",
