"text": "Our checks on TransMedics procurement surgeons confirm the concerns raised by ex-employees, surgeons, OPO executives, and hospital staff – that a reasonable person may view them as generally unemployable by reputable transplant centers; that they are imported from high-risk foreign jurisdictions like India, Pakistan, and the Middle East; appear to be unlicensed to practice medicine in the US; and/or are associated with institutions abroad implicated in organ trafficking scandals. One TransMedics surgeon appears to be associated with one of the most gruesome medical device frauds in history, led by the infamous Paolo Macchiarini, who was charged with manslaughter for patient deaths and sentenced to prison. Another surgeon appears to be currently associated with a suspicious transplant tourism middleman in India. We begin with Magdy Attia, the “Chief of OCS Liver Transplant program at TransMedics” per his LinkedIn bio. An Egyptian import by way of the UK, an ex-TransMedics procurement surgeon alleged that he is unlicensed to practice medicine in the US.",
