      "text": "1970年代以降、レーザーテックではマスク検査の専用装置が主要商品となっている。市場としてニッチであり、同じ半導体製造装置のウェハー検査、欠陥確認、度量衡などの設備と比べて、需要は小規模だ。そのため長期間にわたって、時価総額は1億～2億ドルを推移した。各極端紫外線マスクは不透明な板であり、モリブデン層と硅素層が交互に40層～50層ほど重なる構造だ。マスクの作成はマスクブランクスで始まり、マスクブランクスにフォトレジストをコーティングし、レーザーの光で回路の画像を転写し、現像する。この一連の工程を経て電気回路になる。フォトリソグラフィでは複数のマスクを順に使うため、それらを「マスクのセット」と呼ぶ。いずれのマスク上の画像に不良がある、あるいは極小の微粒子によって汚染されていれば、そのマスクで生産された各々のウェハーも不良になり、生産の歩留まりが低くなる。そのため、半導体装置のメーカーはマスク検査を重視する。",
