      "text": "Lasertec's EUV light source is so plagued by the fatal problems just described - 1) contamination and debris from tin splatter and off-gassing; 2) instability and flickering; 3) low reliability, uptime, and throughput along with onerous cleaning and maintenance - that it has a short lifespan of only a couple of weeks before needing replacement and/or being sent to Germany for refurbishment, driving a burdensome cost of ownership. A former field service engineer stated “they were replacing them every, give or take, two weeks...being able to work on the system became rather challenging.” He highlighted additional downtime from de-pressurizing and pressurizing the chamber, as EUV light is absorbed by air and glass and has to be enclosed in a vacuum: “...pumping up and pumping down was a significant amount of time...every time the chamber was opened, or the light source was taken off, we had to de-vac...then pump it back up to vacuum.”",
