In 2024, Google “prevented 1.3 million apps from getting excessive, unnecessary access to sensitive user data” and banned more than 158,000 bad developer accounts that attempted to publish harmful apps. In 2022 and 2023, Apple terminated over 500,000 developer accounts. Pixalate, a privacy and compliance analytics platform, reported that from Q1 2021 to Q4 2024, 1.89 million apps were delisted from the Apple App Store. In Q4 2024 alone, Apple reportedly deplatformed 336,500 apps with most coming at year end and being registered by US companies.",
