"text": "UEFA Women's EURO 2025 in Switzerland! Many people in Switzerland have dreamt about this. It was certainly a dream of ours as the Swiss Football Association, and a very personal one of mine as figurehead of all our country's footballers. The country will quickly take another big step forward thanks to the joy and excitement for this tournament. We have developed a sustainability plan in collaboration with the government and regional associations, which will secure the event's legacy. We are implementing country-wide projects and programmes to develop girls' and women's football further. We want to double the number of female football players to 80,000 by 2027 while at the same time making real strides at the summit of the game. Wherever we present this plan and our projects, we are met with support and excitement. Women's football was still banned in Switzerland in the 1960s. Now, girls are joining our clubs every day to play football. Twenty years ago, people still turned their heads when they saw a girl walking through town with a football shirt and sports bag. Today, it's completely natural. Finally. How fantastic. In summer 2025, hundreds of thousands will gather in Switzerland's eight Women's EURO 2025 host stadiums to cheer on our national team and the other top European women's national teams. Millions will watch on TVs in Europe and around the world. On 2 July 2025, I will be at the opening ceremony in Basel's St. Jakob-Park. I might have to pinch myself to make sure that it isn't a dream, but a beautiful reality.",
