Transactional processes remain the predominant type of work performed by SSCs; however, adoption of more complex, knowledge-based processes has doubled, or in some cases even tripled, since 2013—this trend likely reflects SSCs' increasingly sophisticated capabilities, as well as the need to find new ways for SSCs to create value beyond transactional processes. Organizations that are pursuing new SSCs are most aggressive about including a broader scope of functions in their SSCs and are aiming to consolidate that work more quickly.",
