In this context, it is critically important that the objectives for regional economic development are consistent with the broader economic objectives of the provincial and federal governments. For the BC government, these objectives include improving prosperity across the province in a sustainable way that is shared across all income levels, regions and cultures. Provincial priorities include housing affordability, environmental sustainability and acknowledging the rights of BC's Indigenous population. Federal government goals align to those of the province, while also reflecting a drive towards greater diversity among sectors of the economy in western Canada as well as increasing the country's global competitiveness and exports.",
