"text": "Based on current social care statistics in the Hampshire region and beyond, there's a clear opportunity to make care more digital. The need to relieve the pressure on the care sector is obvious. While there are 1.2 million care workers in England, the number of job vacancies grew 1.6 per cent in 2018 to 76,000. That suggests more people are relying on their friends and family for assistance. What's more, this informal assistance is estimated to be worth £60 billion each year. An untrained person caring for their loved one out of necessity is taking on a significant responsibility. 'Carer burnout' is a very real problem. And with the over-65 population predicted to rise 45 per cent by 2030, that responsibility is only going to increase. Meanwhile, YouGov research shows 6.6 million UK adults owned a smart speaker in the first quarter of 2018, double the number from the third quarter of 2017. Such a jump shows the appetite for devices like Amazon Echo, made simpler by the reduced digital skills needed to use them. This combination of demand for adult social care, risk of carer burnout and an increase in familiarity with smart devices gave us the opportunity to put an innovative thinking and breakthrough technology together to try to improve lives.",
