Since then, in Asia-Pacific, positive headway has been made across several countries. China continues to make efforts to combat its pollution problems and it is leading the energy transition to renewables. Some countries, such as India and Nepal, have established cross-border advanced warning systems to safeguard against flooding, cyclone, drought and heatwave.71 However, similar cooperation in the region to curb climate risks has been limited, partly due to geopolitical tensions. For example, the border dispute between China and India may have played a role in China’s refusal to share hydrological data for the Brahmaputra river from upstream China with downstream India in the monsoon season for flood projections, heightening flood risks in the region.72",
