The competitiveness of the domestic ‘general’ freight supply chain and concentration of major customers supports cost effective intra country movement of wine. Industry bottlenecks typically exist only during vintage, as surge capacity of trucks in wine regions are required to transport grapes to production facilities. As finished goods enter the ‘general’ freight supply chain any inefficiencies are shared across several other domestic and export ‘dry’ freight categories: efficiency of delivering and loading export containers through container ports; infrequency of container vessel arrivals at Port Adelaide; efficiency of the empty container circular supply chain; the ease of country of destination import facilities.",
