It's the latest nine-figure funding round for the growing metabolic-treatment industry;; which accelerated following the telemedicine company Teladoc's blockbuster acquisition of Livongo;; a diabetes-management company;; in August 2020. Other companies in the industry;; like Omada;; have raised hundreds of millions of dollars and fueled billion-dollar-acquisition discussions;; Insider previously reported.  Twin Health sets itself apart from the growing cohort of startups focused on weight management;; diabetes treatment;; and other conditions by saying it can fully reverse metabolic conditions through its \"digital twin\" technology;; Mohammed told Insider.  Twin Health says it can build a virtual twin of its patients — essentially a personalized assistant designed to simulate the patient in Twin's app — using data collected by a host of remote monitoring tools that it sends when someone signs up for its service. After a month or so;; it uses the data to recommend lifestyle changes;; treatments;; and dietary shifts.  \"We never want to be a patient;; but often in life we will become one;;\" Dr. Lisa Shah;; Twin Health's chief medical officer;; told Insider. \"And when you are a patient with a chronic disease;; it sometimes feels hard to be human.\"  Shah said that after joining Twin Health in 2020;; the first patients she brought to the company were her own parents;; both of whom had Type 2 diabetes.
